Christ In You,The Hope Of Glory

I have good news

Jesus Is Alive!

I have more good news

Jesus Is Alive In You!

Ok… now that you know this, go ahead and completely enter God’s rest because if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, He lives in you and if you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior, you can today.

Jesus is the perfect everything you will ever need living on the inside of you. I don’t know about you, but that just flat out makes me relax.

Need provision? Jesus is your supply.

Need wisdom? Jesus is your wisdom.

Need a healing? Jesus is your health.

Need to be more patient? Jesus is perfectly patient.

What else do you need? You name it. Jesus is your answer!

Always remember that Jesus is not only alive, but Jesus is alive in you. As you can see, this Biblical truth has very practical benefits for your everyday life!

You will notice as you read these 2 sets of scriptures below that Jesus literally did it all. Christ in You is the hope of glory! (see Colossians 1:27)

Ephesians 2:4-10 (NASB)

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

2 Peter 1:2-3 (NLT)

2 May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.3 By His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence.

Let me ask you a question. Do you see anywhere in these scriptures that the responsibility is on us to produce good fruit? I don’t. Instead, I see things in Ephesians 2 like not of yourselves, gift of God, not as a result of our works, but that there will be good works coming right out of our relationship with Christ and in fact that these good works were prepared beforehand so that we would (not might, but would) walk in them. Do you see how, with this change in your belief system from, “this is all up to me” to “this has already been provided for me to walk in” makes all the difference in the world?

Then we see phrases in the next set of verses in 2 Peter like God has given us (already done) everything we need for living a godly life and we have received all of this by coming to know Him. Then in verse 2 – as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord He will give you more grace and more peace. WOW!

Where are the self-efforts in these scriptures? Where are the works? They are nowhere to be found except where they will always be found when we make our existence, not about our own self-efforts, but about having a growing, vibrant relationship with the person of Grace – JESUS. They will be a result of our grace-filled, Jesus-centered, Jesus-focused, Jesus-conscious lifestyle.

Our self-efforts (works) aren’t a root leading to Jesus and His grace. It’s the other way around. Jesus (the person of Grace) leads us to the fruit of good works. Believe me, they will come. They will flow right out of your relationship with Christ Who is in you and is the hope of glory. They will flow effortlessly from Christ to you and through you. So relax and enjoy Jesus! He’s everything you need!

Jesus Christ living in you is indeed the hope of glory!

Good Friday Indeed!

Isaiah 53:3-7, 9

Amplified Bible

3 He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.

4 Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all

7 He was oppressed, [yet when] He was afflicted, He was submissive and opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.

9 And they assigned Him a grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His death, although He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth.

Friends, Jesus literally did it all. Our part is to believe that He really did. We get to wake up every morning and say THANK YOU!

We can be assured that:

Because Jesus was despised, rejected and forsaken, we are fully accepted.

Because Jesus was a man of sorrows and pains and acquainted with grief and sickness, we can live a life filled with joy, healing and wholeness

Because Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our guilt and iniquities, we do not have to pay the penalty for our sins or carry around the guilt

Because Jesus bore the chastisement due us, we can live in peace

Because Jesus took many agonizing stripes upon His body for us, we can live in divine health

We should take Jesus’ gift to us very literally and really believe in the Divine exchange He made with us, including the gift of righteousness that has been given to us, all because of our wonderful Savior!

2 Corinthians 5:21 says,

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (NASB)

This is a righteousness not based on our works, but on Jesus’ finished work on the cross! Isn’t that great news?!

Sadly though, for most of my life, due to the heavy load of legalism in my own personality, I spent almost 100% of my time thinking about myself, how I could improve myself, how I could overcome my weaknesses and how I could be pleasing to God.

Ahhhh, but once the legalistic blinders fell off my eyes and I saw the truth about Jesus and His finished work, I stepped off my treadmill of accomplishment and began to spend my days thinking about my wonderful Savior and everything He is and everything He did for me and how, because of the cross, God is and will be pleased with me as His daughter, always!

I’m telling you, I hardly ever thought about what Jesus did for me all those years because I was too busy thinking about what I was suppose to be doing for Him, but now, not a day goes by that I don’t remember and meditate on Jesus and His beautiful finished work on the cross. It’s all about Jesus and boasting about Him – who He is and what He has done and what we can now do because of what He has done!

Oh yes… it was a good Friday indeed when Jesus accepted His Father’s will in the garden that Friday and stepped in and paid the price in our place. He changed everything for us and our part is to BELIEVE that Jesus did indeed save us in every imaginable way, that He overcame for us and that His finished work really did finish it!

This is something we can do, not just on Good Friday, but every day, for all eternity!

If you have not yet made Jesus your Savior and received the wonderful joy that His finished work on the cross has provided for you to live in, please visit my page here titled Jesus In The Driver’s Seat. On this page I explain the good news of the gospel and you will have the opportunity to pray a prayer of salvation, making Jesus your Savior! Jesus loves you and His arms are wide open!

Law Verses Grace – Which One Gets You Further?

It’s not until we come to the end of ourself and our own self effort that we begin to see that only in and through Jesus (the person of grace) can we live a life of holiness! In fact, when we determine to live only in and through Him we will naturally find ourselves obeying the law and going much, much further, by grace. This, my friend, is the outcome of a growing relationship with Jesus!

Our God Reigns!

Friends in Christ, I believe this is our time to shine like never before. We’re up to bat and together we need to hit a grand slam for the Kingdom of God. To accomplish this, it’s going to be critical that we keep our minds extremely focused on the Word of God instead of the news of the world.

We’re here, for such a time as this, to carry out the plan of God here on earth. We know it’s His will that we blanket the entire planet with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here’s how we know this.

2 Peter 3:9 says “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

We are here for God’s purpose. It’s all about Him. It’s all for His glory.

Thankfully, because of His matchless grace, God has invited us in on this amazing adventure. It’s such an exciting time to be alive!

We have the privilege of maintaining a super close connection with our Heavenly Father, with our Savior Jesus Christ and with our awesome helper, the Holy Spirit.

We’re up to bat, but we will only be able to accomplish what we need to accomplish from a place of close communion with our triune God! As we remain in that place of close fellowship, the Holy Spirit will work in us and through us to carry out the Father’s plan.

I believe these powerful scriptures will inspire you, just like they did me, by reminding you of God’s omnipotence!

Psalm 47:8
God reigns over the nations
God sits on the throne

Exodus 15:18
“The Lord shall reign forever and ever.”
(NASB)

Daniel 4:34
“But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever;

For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
(NASB)

Psalm 93:1
The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength;
Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.
(NASB)

Psalm 146:10
The Lord will reign forever,
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!
(NASB)

1 Timothy 1:17
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (NASB)

1 Peter 5:6-11
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation. All power to Him forever! Amen. (NLT)

Revelation 12:10-11
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,

“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. (NASB)

In Revelation 22:13 Jesus said,
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (NLT)

I Was Shouting At The TV In Agreement

Cheerful group of friends watching football game on tv

Over a month ago my husband Steve listened to this teaching by Judah Smith, Pastor of The City Church in Seattle. He said he wanted us all to watch it as a family during one of our weekly family rallies.

I was literally shouting at the TV in agreement while my family and I watched this teaching. It will help you understand how grace works in your life. That’s why I was shouting. He was explaining the journey that I have been walking out for the past 4 years.

This message is about how we can see our impulses, appetites and desires become more like Jesus.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes from this sermon:

“I am fundamentally convinced as a fellow Jesus follower that the vast majority of us Jesus followers still have not come to a place to understand the credentials we have been given in Jesus Christ.” – Pastor Judah Smith

While watching, I was shouting, “That’s right. That’s exactly how grace works. People have got to hear this. It’s gonna help them!” Then, the minute we finished watching it, I emailed The City Church and asked permission to post a link on my website. I’m thrilled to say that they said yes!

PLEASE do yourself a favor and listen to this message! I am right now listening for the 3rd time.

If you have ever heard Judah Smith preach you already know this, but the man is hilarious so get ready to laugh and be helped at the same time! This link leads straight to the church’s website where you will find all of Pastor Judah’s other teaching as well.

The Key To Humility

I woke up this morning thinking about humility and this came to me.

The key to humility is knowing that any good thing that we’ve ever done or ever will do is because of God’s grace alone. JESUS is God’s grace personified; therefore, it’s really all about JESUS.

If we’re able to live effective lives it’s all because of JESUS

If we happen to have discipline in a certain area it’s because of JESUS

If we choose to walk in love in a specific situation it’s because JESUS helped us

If we are willing to forgive it’s because JESUS forgave us first

If we happen to be helping people in any way it’s because JESUS made us able

If we’re experiencing success in any area it’s because we’re with JESUS

I’m sure you would agree, this list could go on forever…

When we really understand it’s ALL because of JESUS we just want to brag about JESUS and point people to JESUS and be forever grateful to JESUS!

Made Alive in Christ

1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. -Ephesians 2 (NASB)

Wow

IT’S ALL BECAUSE OF JESUS, IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS and ANY GOOD WE MANAGE TO ACCOMPLISH IN THIS WORLD IS DONE THROUGH CHRIST JESUS!

When we remember this we hold the key to humility.

Be Changed By Looking To Jesus

One of the main truths I desire to help others understand is that genuine change comes in our lives as we look to Jesus.

The reason I believe God put it so strong on my heart to help people understand this truth is because of the contrast I have experienced personally between not seeing much genuine change during those years that I was trying to make change happen in my own strength as opposed to the transformation I now experience, daily, by simply beholding  Jesus.

The difference in the progress and effectiveness in my life from my self effort years to my looking to Jesus years is like night and day and receiving change after change after change is easier than ever before. I’m convinced life will be like this for you as well, once you learn this simple Biblical truth!

Several years ago I signed up to receive a daily email encouragement called Mediate & Believe Right from Joseph Prince Ministries that I really like. In fact my husband and I often say, wonder what the good news is going to be in today’s email because we know by experience that we can trust that it will always contain good news from God’s Word that will encourage us! Sometimes I even call my whole family together and say, listen to this, you’ve got to hear this. It’s such good news!

A few weeks ago I received one in my inbox about Beholding Christ and began to seek permission from Joseph Prince Ministries to post it on my website so it could help and encourage you too. They said yes!!

___________________________________________________________________________________________

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18

Be Changed By Beholding Christ

If you go to any good bookstore, you will find a section called Self-Improvement. Here, you’ll find all kinds of books describing various principles and methods you can follow to improve yourself. In all these books, the focus is on you using your willpower and self-discipline to apply the principles to improve yourself.

But God does not want you focusing on yourself. That’s self-occupation, which can only take you so far, with results that last only as long as your willpower lasts. God has a higher way. He wants you to be Christ-occupied. When you look to yourself to improve yourself, you are putting confidence in your flesh. But the Bible tells us that in our flesh dwells no good thing (Romans 7:18), and that we should put no confidence in our flesh (Philippians 3:3).

My friend, the best way to change yourself is to forget self and be occupied with Christ. When you read the Bible, see His beauty, His majesty, His compassion and His grace. As you keep beholding and meditating on His glory, the Holy Spirit inside you goes to work in you. He will transform you into the very same image of Christ. You will be changed from glory to glory, experiencing true and lasting inward transformation!

Ever Wonder What God’s Purpose Is For Your Life?

“God, why am I here? What is Your purpose for my life?” I’m sure this is something we’ve all asked at some point.

I want to share this video teaching with you of John Maxwell at the 2015 Hillsong Conference in Australia. It was such an excellent message and John touched on many things in regards to how we, as Christians, should be dealing with and treating those who don’t know Christ yet.

This message especially pulled on my heart strings because over the past 3.5 years, as a result of the radical change in my own life from truly understanding grace, I have personally gone from being a Pharisee to being much more of a genuine Jesus-Follower. I now have a huge heart for the lost and see each person as someone who Jesus died for, whereas before all I cared about, most of the time, was how they were behaving. I wanted to correct people instead of connecting with them, as you will hear John talk about in this message. I was deceived and am forever grateful to God for making some very needed changes in my life.

I wish every Christian could hear this message. It’s brilliant! I want to thank Daystar Television Network for giving me permission to post the link to this teaching on my website.

John Maxwell’s teaching starts 35 minutes into the video, but there’s lots of amazing Hillsong worship before the teaching that I know you’ll love as well!

I hope this message impacts you like it impacted me.

Being Occupied With Christ Leads To Confidence, Peace and Joy

A few days ago Maribel emailed me a testimony about my book, I Tried Until I Almost Died, and a question as well. I enjoyed processing my answer to her so much that I asked Maribel if she would mind if I shared her testimony, her question and my answer on my website. She said yes!

I hope this blog post of our dialogue encourages you!

Dear Sandra,

Thank you so much for being bold enough to write your super amazing book!

You have no idea how much God is using you to help us!

I really pray that you will answer my question please.

What does it exactly mean you became increasingly occupied with Christ?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Maribel
Los Angeles, CA

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

My response:

Hi Maribel!

Thank you so much for taking the time to email me and letting me know that God is using my book in your life. This totally thrills me!

To answer your question:

What I mean when I say I became increasingly occupied with Christ is: Instead of continuing to focus on myself by measuring myself all the time to see if I was living up to the standard I thought God expected of me, I began to be less occupied with myself and more occupied with Jesus! I started to meditate all throughout the day on the promises in God’s Word and started thinking about Him instead of me.

I would (and still do) let my mind stay filled with the truth that God loves me unconditionally and that I am righteous in Christ – which means my righteousness does not waver based on my performance that day, but remains unchanged no matter what. I also continue daily to keep before me the truth that I am completely forgiven because of what Jesus did for me on the cross – because of the blood He shed for me.

So all day long now, instead of focusing on me, myself and I and measuring myself, I focus on these Biblical truths and think about how good God is.

Another part of being occupied with Christ is that I started rejecting the guilt and condemnation that would try to come on me after I sinned. I came to the realization that I had been dishonoring the sacrifice that Jesus made for me on the cross when I allowed myself to live under guilt and condemnation. It was so sad to me when I realized that I had, in essence, been saying all those years that what Jesus did – His finished work on the cross – was not quite good enough so I needed to add in my own guilt and condemnation. No, I wasn’t actually saying this out loud, but I was living it out by my actions. Once I realized this I began to immediately turn away from myself (from focusing on myself) each time I sinned and instead I started turning directly to Jesus to receive His mercy and grace in my time of need. (see Hebrews 4:16)

I would think or say out loud (and still do to this day), Thank you Jesus that because of what You have done for me on the cross I can stand here knowing I am forgiven right now. You love me so much even though I just sinned. Wow, I am so blessed to be in relationship with You. It’s so incredible that, even though I just blew it, my righteousness is unchanged since my righteousness is in You.”

To be honest with you, living occupied with Christ instead of myself only causes me to fall in love with Jesus all over again every time I sin, as I am reminded once again what it means that Jesus willingly offered up His life to pay the penalty for my sin – the penalty that I deserved.

Some Christians are afraid of this freedom, just as I used to be, and they fear that it will lead to a person sinning more often, but indeed it has the opposite affect. When we spend the moments of our day focusing on Jesus and everything He is instead of ourselves and everything we’re not, THIS is what leads to spiritual growth and change. This is why I have said that once I started living under God’s grace my spiritual life took off like a rocket!

2 Corinthians 3:18 says as we behold Him, we are changed!

Here’s the exact verse:

2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP)

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

By saying all of this, I am not saying I don’t repent when I sin.  The Greek word translated as repentance is metanoia, and it literally means a change of mind. I have found that it’s being occupied with Christ and His goodness on a regular basis that naturally leads a person to turn around (change their mind) when they are going in the wrong direction and head in the opposite direction! I actually repent now more than ever because this is a natural result from me choosing to live occupied with Christ!

You see, it’s all Jesus. It’s all Grace. We focus on Him and His Word and He changes us effortlessly!

Living occupied with self leads to stress, anxiety and frustration. Living occupied with Christ leads to confidence, peace and joy!

You Are A World Changer

Have you ever considered that God could use you to pray over a whole hospital and that He would use your prayer to make a big difference in the lives of the patients, doctors, nurses, staff members and visitors that day? If not, I encourage you to believe big like this because God has SO MANY assignments lined up for you to fulfill. You are not just barely surviving this life. YOU are a WORLD CHANGER IN CHRIST and you carry the power of the Holy Spirit everywhere you go!

I encourage you, as a Jesus-follower, to hold your head up high and walk through life knowing that God has given you authority over the evil one in the name of Jesus.

I was headed to my CrossFit workout this morning, but I forgot something and had to turn around and head home. On my way back I drove by this hospital and God led me to pull into the parking lot and sit here and pray over the whole hospital.

If I’m going to take the time to sit here and pray, then I need to actually believe that God is going to hear my prayer and help the hurting people inside this hospital. And I can believe this simply because of the love, grace and goodness that I know God is willing to extend toward all humanity.

My pastor, Jeff Perry, once said that “Faith is just reliance on how good God is.”

As I pray right now I choose to believe that the presence of Jesus is going to fill every single room of this hospital, that people will be healed and that people will have a desire to call on Jesus today!

What if I would have spent the drive home being mad at myself because I forgot something and had to cancel my CrossFit workout? I would have missed out on this opportunity to sit here and pray over all of these people who are so important to God because I would have been too caught up in myself to even notice the hospital.

Sad to say, I lived like this for many, many years. Life was mostly about me and “what is everybody thinking about me” and “what is this person or that person going to do for me.”

It’s not like I never thought about others or never did anything kind for anyone else. I did. But the majority of my thought life was consumed with thinking about myself. Thankfully, by God’s grace, this is no longer the way I live.

I highly encourage you to walk through life being spiritually perceptive of the people around you and how they may be hurting and how they could use an encouraging word or how a prayer prayed over them could make all the difference in their day, in their life, in their world.

Never forget that You Are A World Changer!

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2
