Who’s ready to leap into 2021??? I know 2020 was challenging, far beyond what any of us would have ever imagined. Even devastating for many who lost loved ones, who lost jobs, who lost homes…Friends, I want you to know how sorry I am for what you’ve gone through. You ARE in my prayers.
I hope you realize that God would never send a devastating virus. That’s not who He is. GOD is love. Love doesn’t send pandemics.
We live in a fallen world. According to John 10:10 it’s the thief (the devil) who comes to kill, steal and destroy but Jesus came that we may have life and life abundantly. Jesus did say, “In this world you will have trouble.” But He also said, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (see John 16:33)
Although I have not suffered as a direct result of Covid-19, Steve and I have sure had our own bundle of challenges in 2020. In some ways it seemed like we would get through one trial and right on the heels of that one another would appear – from thousands of dollars being double-charged to our credit card that took us months and months and countless hours to straighten out to me dealing with health challenges that landed me in the hospital with a double infection to other stuff that has taken place only in the past couple weeks that we are still dealing with right now.
Yet, Yet, Yet, Yet, Yet, we have seen and are continuing to see God’s faithfulness through every season. He continues to work all things together for our good according to Romans 8:28. In fact, even though we have encountered many trials I feel like we have personally come out ahead in the end.
In addition, we have received more testimonies from precious individuals who have been helped, encouraged, healed and changed this year as a result of reading my book, reading my posts or watching one of my videos than we have ever gotten before. And this is happening with hardly anyone out there even knowing my story. It’s not like I’m super popular or something. It’s God’s grace that is causing people to “just happen” to click on one of my YouTube videos or “just happen” to be searching for something on the internet and come across one of my blog posts and their lives are being completely transformed and Steve and I are just sitting over here in our little town in Missouri going, THANK YOU JESUS! Thank You for causing our dream to come true by letting us help other people as we point them to You!
Look at James 1:2-4:
2 My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! 3 For you know that when your faith is tested[a] (Footnote: Or “when faith passes the test.”) it stirs up power within you to endure all things. 4 And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking. (TPT)
I don’t remember exactly when it happened but a good number of years ago I really “got” James 1:2 and came into an understanding that I really could count it all joy, even when I was experiencing trials. Why? Because of who God is. Because He’s for me.
Ever since I’ve come into this understanding, whenever I go through a trial instead of focusing on the trial the Holy Spirit helps me focus on the greatness of God. I actually come into a place of anticipation, waiting to see how God is going to work out every seemingly bad circumstance for my good.
It’s really important what we go around expecting, what we going around believing, and what we go around imagining. Seriously, I cannot stress how important this is.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying in all the trials I experienced this year that I never had times of frustration, wanting to quit or bawling my eyes out because I did. There were so may times when I had to get my eyes off of the situation at hand and get them back on Jesus.
I’m going to leave you a New Years gift at the end of this post. It’s a two part teaching on what faith really is and I bet you might be surprised by some of the stuff you learn. These messages were preached by our friend and fellow minister, Arthur Meintjes, back in August and ever since then I’ve been wanting to share them with you. He really did a great job bringing in the challenges of 2020 as well as examples from his own life.
You might say, Sandra, I don’t want to talk about the challenges of 2020. I want to forget them. I know. I know you do. But just trust me when I say, you won’t be sorry you watched these two messages if you take time to listen. In fact, it may even change your perspective on a few things, but one things is for sure, the truth shared in these messages will catapult you into 2021 with real faith!
The best is yet to come, friends. I have no doubt!!
