Or anyone else, for that matter.
How could this be? Jesus, that’s how.
Because perfect, sinless Jesus was willing to go to the cross and take the sin of the entire world upon Himself – 2 Corinthians 5:21 says Jesus became sin for us – God’s wrath toward sin was forever satisfied.
Look, here’s the proof!
2 Corinthians 5:19Β says,
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting peopleβs sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. (NLT)
Even though Jesus ushered us into a brand New Covenant of Grace through His finished work on the cross, sadly, there are many Christians out there who are still relating to God and relaying God to others based on the Old Covenant of Law; therefore, they are telling people that God is judging them.
This bad news is incorrect information and has kept who knows how many people on this planet from receiving Jesus as their Savior.
John 3:17 says,Β
For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvationΒ andΒ be made safeΒ andΒ sound through Him. (AMPC)
I love what Andrew Wommack says in his article, War Is Over.
“God the Father forsook Jesus so you and I would never be forsaken. All that you and I would have suffered, through billions of years in eternityβthe grief, the pain and, worst of all, the complete separation from the presence of GodβJesus experienced. And He experienced all of this for us.Β When we say God is judging our sins as individuals or corporately as a nation, we are voiding what Jesus did.Β That would be βdouble jeopardy.β
“Some of you may not like this, but itβs true.Β Sin isnβt a problem with God anymore. Itβs the church that has made it a major deal.Β Neither past, present, nor future sins can separate you from God. The only people who will go to hell are those who have spurned and rejected the greatest sacrifice that has ever been made.Β In heaven, you wonβt answer for your sin; Jesus already has. You will answer for your acceptance or rejection of Jesus.”
Andrew also says this at the end of that article:
“Before I learned that the war was over, I used to say, βIf God doesnβt judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.β Now I say, βIf God judges America, He will have to apologize to Jesus.β Thank God for Jesus!”
Bam! Is your spirit jumping up and down like mine is right now?
God’s grace is absolutely stunning!
As Believers, we’re suppose to be ministers of reconciliation, not ministers of judgement.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21Β say,
17Β Therefore if anyone isΒ in Christ,Β he isΒ a new creature;Β the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.Β 18Β NowΒ allΒ theseΒ things are from God,Β who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us theΒ ministry of reconciliation,19Β namely, thatΒ God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself,Β not counting their trespasses against them, andΒ He hasΒ committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20Β Therefore, we areΒ ambassadors for Christ,Β as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, beΒ reconciled to God.Β 21Β He made Him whoΒ knew no sinΒ to beΒ sin on our behalf, so that we might become theΒ righteousness of God in Him. (NASB)
Being a minister of reconciliation means to go around telling people the good news that Jesus paid the price to make the greatest exchange with them ever known to humankind – their sin for His righteousness – and that because of His finished work on the cross they can be reconciled to God.
As His ambassadors, God wants to make His appeal through us, but we can’t be giving people wrong information about God – God is against you, God is judging you, Clean up your act…or elseΒ – and expect them to be all enthusiastic about wanting to be in relationship with Him. People who do that are representing God wrong and I believe an unprecedented percentage of humanity has been thrown into a state of confusion as a result.
I want to encourage you to get a book titled Good God – The One We Want To Believe In But Are Afraid To Embrace, by Lucas Miles.
Here are the chapter titles:
- Inventing God
- God Is Not A Criminal
- Sovereign God or Control Freak?
- The Man Behind The Curtain
- Wisdom and Foolishness
- God Revealed
- The Purpose of the Law
- Removing the Mixed Gospel
- Better Than We Think
And then this good news from the back cover:
“God is neither responsible for your pain, nor is He allowing it.
In fact, He is against it and wants nothing more than to prevent it.”
You may have questions about God, His nature or things that you’ve personally gone through. That’s ok. I believe you just may find the answers to your questions in Lucas Miles book, Good God.
Always Remember that Jesus said this:
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that theyΒ may have life, andΒ haveΒ itΒ abundantly. –Β John 10:10Β (NASB)
These three things are true:
- God is Good
- The devil is bad
- I’m never going to stop telling you the good news!
